On new years eve according to NBC politics, " House ok's proposal despite GOP objections." The GOP didn't want to raise taxes, which is one of the reasons they weren't in favor or passing the bill. Democrats on the other hand were in favor of extending tax rates, particularly for the wealthy. They were also in favor of extending unemployment benefits for another year, and the change in alternative minimum tax, which meant middle-class families wouldn't have higher taxes. Unfortunately for the republicans entitlement programs remained the same. And now families of four making $4,000-$4,000 would see a tax rate increase all in effort to "avert the fiscal cliff", even if that means a rise for dividends.
To conduct my research I used the Google search engine and I will be honest it was a little difficult. I mainly used the term "fiscal cliff", i added republican views/democratic views to it as well. What troubled me the most at first were some of the terms used, but after adjusting my results by reading level in the search tools I found it much easier. I also narrowed my research by changing the time setting to results within the past week. I had to look up What acronyms such as GOP meant and that really improved my result's quality. The other thing I tried was to look at trusted sites like those ending in ".gov" or ".org". If it didn't I checked to see it was a well known page.

OK, so with regards to the Blog, you may want to change it to a different background. I am able to read the text (which shows up in white boxes), but it is not looking as you want. I appreciate you sharing that this was difficult and what you did to resolve the problem for yourself. These are issues that absolutely affect you, so it is crucial that you have the tools to understand such things. Also, you used only two, not three, sources.
